Clergy & Staff

We are blessed to have a friendly and efficient staff to coordinate all God’s ministers (clergy and laity) at FPC.

Pastor – Rev. Dr. Wain Wesberry

Hi, I am Wain Wesberry, Pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Fernandina Beach.  I am a native of South Carolina.  I spent my formative years in Batesburg-Leesville where God’s grace often came in the form of juicy summer peaches the size of softballs, trips to Shealy’s BBQ, and times spent with family and friends on Lake Murray.  I attended Presbyterian College (Go Blue Hose!) and graduated with a B.A. in English.  At PC, God graced me with Sarah who is the love of my life and who became my wife in 1997.  During our seminary years in Atlanta, Georgia we worshiped and served at Rock Spring Presbyterian while I was working on my M.Div. degree.  After seminary, God led us to Greenville, South Carolina (Sarah’s hometown) where I served at St. Giles Presbyterian Church and Fourth Presbyterian Church.  God also graced us with two wonderful children during those years, Will and Aubrey June.  Before coming to Fernandina Beach, we made a move back to Clinton, South Carolina to serve First Presbyterian Church.  I finished up a doctoral degree from Columbia Seminary during our time there and really enjoyed the work God enabled us to do to fight hunger in the community.  God’s grace showed up yet again, this time in the form of the call to come and serve on Amelia Island.  What a gift!  We love the people and the area and are dreaming of serving in such ways to make First Presbyterian as faithful, caring, and generous as possible.  Some of my hobbies and interests include: swimming, golf, fishing, reading, singing, playing guitar, and cooking.  Thank you for taking the time to visit my bio.  Come worship with us one Sunday (8:30 or 11 AM).  I would love to meet you and get to know you personally.  The body of Christ is incomplete without you.

Associate Pastor-Rev. Julie Jensen

Pastor Julie says “I may not have been born in the South, but I got here as soon as I could.”   Julie spent most of her youth in the Northern Virginia/DC area between two Department of State placements in Syria and South Africa.  She moved to Beaufort, SC, which she now calls home, and graduated from Beaufort Academy and then the University of South Carolina Honors College with a B.S. in Criminal Justice. (Go Gamecocks!!).  While in college she interned for what is now UKirk, and credits Campus Ministry with helping her discern her call to ministry.  She graduated from Columbia Theological Seminary in 2005 and has served congregations in NJ, GA, NY, and now FL.

What drew Julie to apply to FPC, besides the amazing location, was the opportunity to use her gifts in Pastoral Care, Mission, and Education.  What convinced her it was the place God was calling her were the people she has met here, the church’s love of service and desire to care for people, and the community.  “One of my goals is to get to know as many members as I can.  Please feel free to stop by the office, or invite me to a meal or coffee or simply for a visit.”

Julie comes to FPC having traded the snow of NY for the surf and sand of Ameila Island.  Her hobbies now include running a bed and breakfast for all of her (very welcome) visitors and walking to the beach.  When not at the beach, you will find her cooking, at a Zumba class, or progressing in her desire to become a runner and a quilter.  She loves the water and is excited to try paddle boarding and kayaking.  Julie is also an asset to any trivia team, loves to explore new places, and will not hesitate to tell you about her niece if you ask.  Just be prepared to see pictures!

Director of Youth and Their Families – Forrest Foxworth

Forrest was born in Amory, Mississippi. His parents worked for Wycliffe Bible Translaters for much of his childhood, so he split time between Mississippi and Papua New Guinea. He finished high school in Starkville. His parents are settled there now.  He has siblings in Europe (Laura/Eric) and Asia (Stirling/Jessica)… and wishes he got to see them more often!  Forrest and his wife (Ginny) both attended Belhaven University in Jackson, MS. Forrest double-majored in Biblical Studies and Sports Ministry. During college, he interned under Gregg Parker in Corinth, MS. Gregg taught him a lot… but did insist on being called “Bossman”. Forrest has since worked in a variety of church settings. Prior to Fernandina, he was Youth/CLC Director at First Presbyterian Church in Tupelo, MS. Forrest and Ginny have a daughter (Ruby) and a son (Lee). He is an avid Arsenal fan, loves music, has walked on the moon, invented trees, has 12 Olympic medals, and enjoys fabricating details of his website bio.
