My wife Peggy and I moved to Fernandina Beach in 2009 to be closer to Peggy’s parents.
We had been active in the Presbyterian Church of East Moriches on Long Island – a very small congregation with less than 50 members and a very dedicated female Pastor. Within a short time, everybody within the congregation became friends and it was almost as if we left a family behind when we relocated.
Seeing the “big” First Presbyterian Church of Fernandina Beach with hundreds of members made us concerned. Will we be able to connect? Will we be able to be part of a family that shares and tries to live christian values?
After almost 2 years of being a member of this church, those questions are answered with a big YES.
From the first time we went to a Sunday Service we felt at home.
We felt at home by listening to sermons that were grounded in the daily challenges of life.
We understood scripture better by listening to the uplifting children’s sermons. We felt at home by being greeted with open arms and hearts at the Coffee Klatsch after the 8:30 service.
We became close friends to members of the congregation by spending time and working together on mission trips.
This is a church that is grounded in scripture and how to translate it to behavior. This is an “outbound” church with many activities to help others.
If you are new in town and looking for a harbor for your soul, a mooring for your christian beliefs and a family that is trying to live them – join us.
Join us at the Sunday Services at 8:30 and 11:00 AM and be with us for the Coffee Klatsch and Bible Studies between the services.
We will welcome you with open arms and minds.
