Pastor Julie says “I may not have been born in the South, but I got here as soon as I could.” Julie spent most of her youth in the Northern Virginia/DC area between two Department of State placements in Syria and South Africa. She moved to Beaufort, SC, which she now calls home, and graduated from Beaufort Academy and then the University of South Carolina Honors College with a B.S. in Criminal Justice. (Go Gamecocks!!). While in college she interned for what is now UKirk, and credits Campus Ministry with helping her discern her call to ministry. She graduated from Columbia Theological Seminary in 2005 and has served congregations in NJ, GA, NY, and now FL.
What drew Julie to apply to FPC, besides the amazing location, was the opportunity to use her gifts in Pastoral Care, Mission, and Education. What convinced her it was the place God was calling her were the people she has met here, the church’s love of service and desire to care for people, and the community.
“One of my goals is to get to know as many members as I can. Please feel free to stop by the office, or invite me to a meal or coffee or simply for a visit.”
Julie comes to FPC having traded the snow of NY for the surf and sand of Ameila Island. Her hobbies now include running a bed and breakfast for all of her (very welcome) visitors and walking to the beach. When not at the beach, you will find her cooking, at a Zumba class, or progressing in her desire to become a runner and a quilter. She loves the water and is excited to try paddle boarding and kayaking. Julie is also an asset to any trivia team, loves to explore new places, and will not hesitate to tell you about her niece if you ask. Just be prepared to see pictures!
